Working at height is not routine cleaning

High-level cleaning in commercial environments often involves more than access to a ladder.

Kitchen extraction systems, ducting, ventilation and difficult-to-reach areas can require work at height, specialist equipment and proper planning.

The HSE guidance is clear that work at height should be:

• properly planned
• supervised
• carried out by competent people
• supported by suitable equipment and controls

This is why high-level cleaning should not become an “extra job” for staff.
